The Tour de Cypress is an annual bike ride charity fundraiser which, for this year, will raise money for The Center for Student Missions and Caring for Children Foundation of Texas. The bike ride was established in 1994 by nine Sterling Bank and Northwest Cyclery employees and offers area riders a late season training ride for the MS 150. In 2007, a new production team will attempt to duplicate and surpass the previous leadership success of this event!
Riders can choose between distances of 22, 56, 68, and 75 miles through the beautiful back roads of Harris and Waller Counties. The ride has earned the reputation of being one of the safest and most well-supported rides in the area.
The Tour de Cypress rider base has grown from 400 in 1994 to more than 2,100 in 2006. Since 1994, the ride has raised more than $513,000!
Sterling Bank should be commended for their commitment to Caring for Children Foundation of Texas for the first 13 years of the Tour de Cypress. Sterling Bank served as a major sponsor of the event from 1994 to 2006, and has contributed more than $150,000 in financial support. In addition, more than 15 Sterling Bank employees have served on the steering committee and more than 150 have volunteered at the ride each year since its inception.
Please join us this year to benefit The Center for Student Missions (a new charity for the event), along with the Houston-Area Care Van Program which provides access to immunizations for medically uninsured and underserved children in the greater Houston area through the Caring for Children Foundation of Texas.
